My name is Melissa MacKay, and I own Bliss Makeup, Esthetics, and Massage.
I am a certified makeup artist, esthetician, and Registered Massage Therapist.
I am in love with makeup. So much so that I started my first makeup business when I was 16. At just about 19 I got married and did the makeup for myself and part of my wedding party. After that we moved away to a small town and makeup took a backseat for a while. We moved again to another small town and became an Avon lady. I enjoyed it. Once again we moved, this time to a city. I kept with Avon for a bit, then started working for Sears in their children's department. A few people suggested I apply into the cosmetics department. I did and moved over right away. And so began my beauty career. I looooved working in the cosmetics department. I started at the fragrance counter, and soon as it opened up I moved to the Lancome counter. I was hooked. Of course I wanted more and needed to get out of the department store. I applied at Alberta Massage and Spa in Medicine Hat and got hired to help move their makeup line. Shortly after I started I began working on my esthetic and massage certificates. I was there for a few years, then started my family. After the birth of my daughter I started working at another small spa as an esthetician and RMT. I enjoyed it there, but while I was pregnant with my son I decided to move my business home so I could be with my munchkins. That became the start of my freelance career, and I don't intend to stop anytime soon.
With over 10 years in the beauty industry,I've had the pleasure of being involved with the Medicine Hat Stampede Royalty makeovers with Sears Canada and the My96 makeovers. I was counter manager with Lancome at Sears, Esthetican and Lead Makeup Artist with Alberta Massage and Spa for 3 years prior to being a freelance artist and esthetician. I was the makeup artist for CBC covering the Continental Cup of Curling in 2008. I've worked on countless weddings and photo shoots with various local photographers and models.
