I've had a lot of fun this past year working with various photographers creating more avante garde pieces of work. Here are a few sessions for you to enjoy. :) "The Mad Hatter" Photos courtesy of Cheryl Clarke Photography "Let them eat cake" Photos courtesy of Photography by Eiko "Gypsy Love" Photos Courtesy of Justin Quinton Photography "Book fairies" Photos courtesy of Justin Quinton Photography "Sad Cupid" Photos courtesy of Cheryl Clarke Photography Fantasy Hair Competition Photos courtesy of ONE Beauty Academy It's been a while since I've updated my page and thought, what a good topic to cover, especially since I have a new Boudoir event coming up this summer with Cheryl Clarke Photography. I love working on Boudoir sessions! I think it might be one of my favourite styles of makeup to do. I love being able to take a woman from everyday to glamorous, and celebrating with the inner goddess that emerges. We take on a whole new persona when we are transformed. We exude a different kind of confidence....sexy! Something I get asked all the time by some of my prospective clients is what should I wear? Wear what makes YOU feel sexy. For some, it's lingerie...but we've seen sexy in all sorts of attire. Hockey and baseball jersey's, hubbies best dress shirt, leather jackets, to almost nothing are all attire we've come across. Visit www.facebook.com/cherylclarkephotography What a learning curve! When Megan approached me with this challenge, I was more than willing to give it a shot. What a cool tool to have in your back pocket. But I was thinking it could be a fall/ winter project. Give me some time to research products and do some technique research. So I worked with what I had and only purchased one extra concealer.
This is what was in my arsenal: Dermablend by Vichy, Jane Iredale Disappear, Pure Professional Corrective Palette, HD foundation, setting powder, and face makeup also Pure Professional. I started with her sleeve first, as that was the most important one to cover, and I wanted that one to show the most amount of my actual work, as Justin has helped me out quite a bit to the others. And we also had a time crunch. Well,! That sleeve took a good 2 hrs! We were in a 4 hr no budge time limit. So, I have to move on, plus work on her face to.
So in total I did work to her sleeve, the 2 ship wheels on her chest, plus 2 other substantially coloured tattoos, ( one still being a fairly recent and quite vibrant ). The sleeve shows the most amount of actual work from me as this was the most important to have. Justin noted I didn't need to have it completely gone as he would help me along, but of course I had to try removing the bulk myself. I think we counted 4-5 layers, and that's including the back and undersides of her arm. Justin completely took care of the chest. The other tattoos have 1-2 layers of my work.
I love collaborations. And this one is extra sweet as this started with an idea I had...
I found this picture via Pintrest quite some time ago and fell in love with it so I pinned it. I really wanted to try it, but had no way to style it. Styling an idea for a shoot, or coming up with the complete picture is still a new concept to me. So the idea sat. Here and there I would pick up different craft supplies, lashes, feathers and such intended for this shoot. I come across this amazing pic on a photographers page that I follow on Facebook and it all came together. This is what became of my vision. Our ideas were constantly evolving over the days leading up to the shoot. Megan suggested painting her neck black, loved it!! I love the energy that Megan and I have when we get brainstorming, we both have such passion for trying out something different.
Justin Quinton was the perfect photographer for this shoot. He has quite an eye for the art side of photography, which makes my job as a makeup artist that much more enjoyable. To see your idea come alive on camera is great, but to see it turned into a form of art, amazing!
The 3 of us have more great creations planned...stay tuned Photos courtesy of Justin Quinton Photography http://www.facebook.com/quintonphoto Happy New Year everyone! He's done some fantastic wedding work. http://www.facebook.com/mingloophotography Model: Megan Hilgendorf (model mayhem # 2847944 ) Planning a shoot can almost be compared to planning a wedding. Book your photographer, pick a date, find your models, plan wardrobe, coordinate hair and makeup.
I recently found all of this first hand as I coordinated a shoot for the first time. I recently got an inspiration to do a series of era themed shoots. The first era I'm tackling is the 1920's.
My initial inspiration actually came from seeing a picture of a friend of mine, her hair had that dark finger wave look. I knew this would be a fun series to accomplish. I contacted a couple of my photographer friends and started to hash out a plan. The first shoot is a collaboration with Old Fashioned Principle, ( I'm working on a series of ideas). I love how he can capture that old fashioned feeling in his shoots. One of my friends gladly modeled for me, plus a model recommended by the photographer. It was brilliant to see two fashion stories come out of this shoot. A more refined side of the 1920's, and a more young and free side. I can't wait to tackle my next idea! On of my best friends got married this fall. I was thrilled the day she asked me to be her makeup artist. Her only request was that she still looked like herself. She just wanted an enhancement. I think I accomplished that task. She looked exactly as she was meant to on her wedding day.
Photos courtesy of Matthew Keoni Photography http://matthewkeoni.com Here's a great wedding I was able to work on. Ron and Wendy were any photographer's dream as they just naturally posed. I was her makeup artist for her big day and Old Fashioned Principle was their photographer. I had a lot of fun assisting on this one:) enjoy the photos.
http://www.facebook.com/oldfashionedprinciple The company I represent is Pure Professional makeup.
Pure Professional is proudly Canadian, and is out of Lethbridge, founded by the owners of Purely Inspired Academy of Beauty. All of our artists are certified. We all have a passion to educate women about the beauty of makeup. The product itself is amazing! Who cannot resist wanting a pallet of 88 colors to play with? Ok, how about 3 pallets! That's right. A pallet to suit everyone. We also carry 3 pan pallets of shadow and pots of pigments if 88 is too much. The pigment is so rich! Definitely rivals your most sought after professional lines! The mascara is fabulous with 3 formulas to suit every need. I love this mascara as you can go into water, go to the gym, or get married without it smearing all over your face. Our water soluble formula wraps each lash, yet stays put. If lips are more your thing, we have lots of goodness for you. 5 pan lipsticks leave your lips conditioned. Use one shade or custom blend your perfect color. With 8 pallets of long wearing color to choose from, everyone has a perfect shade. Our glosses will leave your lips soft, long after the color has faded. Our non sticky formula has a pleasant citrus scent. I am always game to open up my kit and allow you to snoop, experiment with the product, or ask questions. |
